“You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” has been cancelled for this weekend as a cast member has tested positive for COVID. We hope to reschedule the following week on Saturday, September 24, and a matinee on Sunday, September 25. As soon as we know, we will give you more information. If you have purchased tickets, we will contact you for a refund or to reschedule.
Community Yard Sale Oct 8 @ 8AM-1PM- New Date
We will be hosting a Community Yard Sale October 8th, 2022 from 8AM-1PM at the theatre at 17303 W Washington St, Hagerstown MD. There will be individual sellers and commercial vendors and Potomac Playmakers will also be selling items from our COSTUME shop. Find something for Halloween, vintage wear, or maybe you’re putting on a show yourself!

Auditions for “Puffs” Sept 12-13 @ 7PM
Are you feeling magical? Are you destined to save the world?
The Potomac Playmakers are proud to announce auditions for “Puffs: or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic” by Matt Cox. Directed by Anna Lynch, auditions will be held on Monday September 12th and Tuesday September 13th from 7-9pm at the Potomac Playmaker Performing Arts Center, 17303 West Washington Street, Hagerstown.
For auditions everyone 18 years and older is welcome to audition and encouraged to bring a head shot and resume, but these items are not required. Auditions will consist of some Improv work, cold readings from the script and character impressions. Knowledge of that really popular 7 book series is preferred, but not required. Being able to do an English accent is a plus as well. All roles are open and can be any race, body type or gender with the exception of the Narrator and Wayne which will need to be the gender listed.
Performance dates are November 11-13 and 18-20, 2022.

Susie Bones; a Puff who lives in fear of death, due to the fact that her entire family died.
J Finch Fletchley; a flamboyant and happy Puff.

Hannah; a shy Puff who gets made fun of by the other houses.

This clever and inventive play “never goes more than a minute without a laugh” (Nerdist) giving you a new look at a familiar adventure from the perspective of three potential heroes just trying to make it through a magic school that proves to be very dangerous for children. Alongside them are the Puffs, a group of well-meaning, loyal outsiders with a thing for badgers “who are so lovable and relatable, you’ll leave the theater wishing they were in the stories all along” (Hollywood Life). Their “hilariously heartfelt!” (Metro) and epic journey takes the classic story to new places and reimagines what a boy wizard hero can be.

Note from the Playwright: I had been interested in and drawn to the theatre arts since I was a preteen. Although, in my earlier years, I primarily focused on traditional acting and improvisational theatre. As my interests in theatre evolved, I started playwriting because I saw it as the most succinct and lively way to present my voice to the world, to add to the conversation in a language I had been cultivating for years – theatre.
I view my pieces as experimental conversation starters; I often enjoy tackling subject matter from a distorted lens to emphasize certain aspects of it. This manifests itself in absurdism, magical realism, Dadaism, existentialism, or purposeful oddness. I am particularly interested in issues of morality, family tragedy, the intangible powers of intense love or intense hatred, and more.
I have a deeply engrained love for theatre in its most traditional sense but my work blends that approach with a more contemporary and innovative stylization. In my works, this appears as dream sequences, absurdist depictions of the afterlife, abnormal memories, metatheatrical moments, extraordinary metamorphoses, and more.
